BOSTON, MA (April 2, 2024) – Today, the culture shifting historian, executive producer, and artist La Gata releases her first single ‘En Vano’ a Rocketón. As anticipation for La Gata's music has grown, the Reggaetonera has kept her fans on edge and full of anticipation with hints about the arrival of 'En Vano' over the past few weeks.
Mixing Rock En Español with Reggaeton, “En Vano” celebrates La Gata's upbringing and lived experience. The song explores traditional drum patterns in Reggaeton and combines them with varieties of melodies and guitar riffs commonly heard in Rock. A concept inspired by Wisin Y Yandel's 2002 classic song 'Reggae Rockeao' from their album 'De Otra Manera'.
'En Vano' is realized as the song that she needed when she was young and fighting depression, with Perreo. Speaking about this phenomenon, La Gata says in the Huffington Post (Due to the death of her father) “I cut my hair in an emo style. You couldn't get me to stop wearing Black, skulls, studded belts... Around 18, I thought, 'You know what? I'm alive. He is not. I have to live my life. "I don't want to be sad anymore….I made a conscious decision to forgive him, to forgive myself for wasting time, being sad, and being mean to myself.”
