EDITOR’S NOTE: WELCOME TO ALERTA PENDIENTE

Alerta Pendiente is an independent weekly music review and cultural commentary vertical curated by me, La Gata, a brand new recording artist & producer and veteran pioneering Historian, researcher, and former journalist. These reviews are written from a personal, historically informed perspective rooted in Caribbean and Latin music culture. Coverage is selective, opinion-based, and intended to document movements in real time rather than serve as a comprehensive industry roundup. Not every release will be covered, and inclusion is not an endorsement nor a ranking of artistic value.

The music featured organically throughout Alerta Pendiente reflects records I genuinely enjoy, find culturally significant, or believe deserve attention — regardless of an artist’s popularity, co-signs, streaming numbers, or label affiliation. Coverage is selective, opinion-based, and not intended to function as a comprehensive industry roundup.

There may be more songs on the playlist than what is reviewed each week due to editorial capacity, time, and research considerations. Alerta Pendiente typically features approximately 5–7 reviews or highlighted releases per week. Additional paid submissions may expand the number of featured records included in a given edition.

Alerta Pendiente offers paid submission and inclusion opportunities for artists, labels, and publicists seeking guaranteed editorial consideration and placement. Paid inclusion guarantees space within the platform, but it does not influence my opinions, reviews, analysis, scoring, or cultural commentary.

For those independent artists interested in signing up, you can do so here.
